Food plays a major role in defining a country’s history, culture, demography and more. When it comes to India, the cuisine tells a lot about the people and culture of different regions. If you explore Indian food culture, you will find it is divided into multiple regional and sub-regional cuisines. That’s not all. Each of these cuisines further offers various unique dishes that are earthy, flavourful and authentic. In an initiative to bring the diversified food culture (of India) under one roof, the Uttar Pradesh government has recently announced having dedicated food streets in every city of the state.
According to a report in PTI, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath recently directed officials to prepare a plan to establish a dedicated food street in every city in Uttar Pradesh. The food street is expected to have cuisines from different regions of India, the report further reads.
Speaking at an event, organised by Uttar Pradesh Culture Department in Lucknow, the Chief Minister said that a dedicated food street would help people get introduced to food from different states and “they would know what to look for when they travel to states like Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh“, an ANI report further explains.
“We have had the tradition of Sangam since ancient times. All the cultures of India are the country’s strengths. So, we should have dedicated food streets where people can get food not only from different parts of the country but also from different parts within the states, such as Garhwal and Kumaon in Uttarakhand and Bhojpuri, Awadhi, Bundelkhandi and Braj in UP,” stated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as per ANI.
