Street food is an indispensable part of Indian cuisine. The presence of vendors and hawkers nearly everywhere in India is a clear indication of the country’s love for street food. Whether it’s chaat, momo, pakoda, or even desi Chinese, these street-side eateries offer a variety of delicacies. Each street vendor makes an effort to create something distinctive that will set him apart from the competition. For instance, this Gujarati street vendor who used to be an engineer has a special way of preparing the beloved beverage chai. He flavours the chai with apples and chikoo. The clip of the vendor was shared on Instagram by food blogger @foodietraveller_dharak. The video soon gained over 990k views. The vendor can be seen in the video making chai and then cutting apples and chikoo into it. The fact that he is incorporating fruits into the traditional chai makes the process quite interesting. He then prepares a delectable thepla and serves it with a unique chutney. The price of the Thepla is just Rs. 20! Yes, you heard it right!

The vendor’s skill to experiment with chai captivated many users. The video received a flood of comments and reactions. One Gujarati user wrote, “Thepla chutney ok chey pan fruity vari cha not good” (Thepla chutney is okay but this fruity tea is not good). Whereas another user said, “Chai is looking good, would love to try it.”
